Biosev’s sugarcane suppliers account for 40% of the raw materials processed by it. They, thus, represent a strong link in the value chain, which justifies the company’s decision to build solid and transparent relationships with these partners and encourage good practices.

Among other initiatives in this regard, Biosev implemented the Mais Cana program in all its operating units to increase yields and the synergy between the company and its agricultural suppliers and partners. One of the highlights of the program is the transfer of Biosev areas to these stakeholders for planting sugarcane in a bid to reduce costs for both suppliers and the company.

The renovation of sugarcane fields of suppliers and partners is encouraged through the concession of credit or advances for the purchase of inputs and seedlings. Biosev maintains seedling nurseries for the multiplication of new sugarcane varieties, which are sold to suppliers under special terms, and advances funds to be invested for improving the quality of sugarcane fields.

The transfer of technology to partners and suppliers is carried out in cycles of technical lectures covering the most relevant topics for the current crop year, such as pest control, plant nutrition, pesticides, mechanization and market initiatives.
